Urban theories in a post-socialist context

Since the collapse of socialist system, cities in Central Eastern European countries have undergone dynamic transformation processes. Those processes attracted noteworthy scientific attention, particularly local academic circles, causing revived interest urban studies region. However, former has become centre discussion itself. This is mostly related to validity theories and methodologies born West study cities. On one side, there a cohort academics who uncritically embraced Western knowledge, priori assuming its universal applicability. research position commonly developmental convergence theories, which take ?correction? postsocialist their eventual assimilation city as model. opposite side spectrum, post-colonial approach developed stand criticizes alleged hegemonism insists on more cosmopolitan science that would into account experiences worldwide.
